How to remove a mugshot from the internet
Mugshot sites republish across networks. Removing one copy without mapping the rest achieves nothing.
Map every copy first, then work the removals together. Many states now restrict mugshot publication and charging for removal, several sites have free removal processes where charges were dropped or expunged, and search engines will de-index in some circumstances. Paying one site typically does nothing, because the image is syndicated across a network of others.
Map before you pay anything
Mugshot images propagate. A single booking photo commonly appears across a dozen or more sites within weeks, many operated by the same people behind different brands.
Search the full name, name plus county, name plus the word arrest, and run a reverse image search. Build the complete list before spending a dollar, because paying one site while eleven others carry the same image is the most common way people waste money here.

The routes that work
- State law. Many states now restrict publishing booking photos for profit or require free removal on request when charges were dismissed or expunged. Which state matters enormously.
- Site policies. Several networks remove for free where the case was dismissed, expunged or resulted in acquittal, with documentation.
- The originating agency. Some sheriff and police departments remove booking photos from their own sites on request or after a period, which cuts off the republication supply.
- Search de-indexing. Where a state law or court order applies, or under personal information policies in narrow cases.
On paying removal fees
Many of these sites exist to monetise removal. Paying establishes you as someone who pays, and the image reappearing on a sister site shortly afterwards is a well-documented pattern.

Does expungement remove the mugshot automatically?
No. Expungement affects the official record. Private sites that already copied the image are not bound by it directly, though many states now require removal on proof of expungement.
How long does removal take?
Individual sites range from days to months. The full set across a network usually takes weeks and requires follow-up.
Can it come back?
Yes, if the source record remains public and republication continues. Cutting off the source is what makes removal durable.
