How long it takes to remove a Google review
Realistic timelines for each stage, and why the first answer you get is usually not the final one.
An automated decision on a flagged Google review usually arrives within three to seven days. Escalation to human support typically adds one to two weeks. Straightforward policy violations with good evidence often resolve inside a fortnight; contested cases can run considerably longer, and reviews that break no policy will not resolve at all through this route.
Stage by stage
The timeline is not one clock. It is three, and most people give up during the second.
- Flag from the Business Profile. Three to seven days for an automated decision. Most first-pass reports are declined.
- Escalation to Business Profile support. One to two weeks, sometimes longer. This is where evidence gets weighed by a person.
- Re-escalation or appeal. Adds further weeks. Worth doing only when you have new evidence rather than the same argument again.
Why the first decline is not the end
A first-pass decline usually means an automated system compared the review text against policy and found nothing obviously violating. It does not mean a person looked at your booking records, because at that stage nobody has.
That is why the escalation step matters more than the initial flag, and why attaching proof at escalation changes outcomes far more than re-flagging does.
What makes it faster
Speed correlates with how easy you make the decision. A single clear claim with one attachment resolves faster than a five-paragraph history of the dispute.
It also correlates with acting early. Evidence such as the reviewer's profile and posting pattern degrades as accounts are deleted or edited, and booking records are easier to pull at three weeks than at three years.
The clock you actually control is how quickly you gather evidence, not how quickly Google responds.

Is there a way to expedite removal?
There is no paid fast lane. What shortens the timeline is a correctly categorised report with verifiable evidence attached at the escalation stage.
Does the review disappear immediately once approved?
Usually within hours of the decision, though it can take a little longer to disappear from cached search results.
What if it is still up after several weeks?
Either it was declined without clear notice, or it is genuinely not removable under policy. At that point the honest options are a legal route or outweighing it, not more flagging.
